Channel Manager Airbnb

Channel Manager Airbnb cover

Whether you have an independent hotel, vacation rental, b&b or farmhouse, we recommend that you connect the channel manager to Airbnb! Not only can you manage your inventory automatically, but you can also increase your online visibility. The more channels you sell your rooms on, the better your chances of receiving bookings!

What is Airbnb?

Airbnb is an online booking portal that publishes listings for homes and apartments from around the world. The platform was born in 2007 from the brilliant intuition of Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia and Nathan Blecharczyk. At the time, three students started renting their air mattress (hence “Air”) to people passing by and then created a company which was recently valued on the stock exchange. The purpose of the portal, like all OTAs, is to connect people looking for accommodation with people with extra space to rent. Today Airbnb is one of the most used portals in the world, but no longer just by individuals. Hotels, apartments, villas, tree houses and bungalows. Each type of property is present on the portal.

Connecting to Airbnb via iCal or API?

In addition to modifying the extranet directly, you can also update your Airbnb profile with an iCal connection.

What does it mean? Updating in this way means sharing a calendar in iCal format. This allows you to synchronize the openings and closings, but nothing else. Pricing and restrictions cannot be managed via iCal.

For this reason, we do not recommend using this connection to hotels and owners of different units. It can be a manageable solution only for homeowners with one or two ads.

Why connect your Channel Manager to Airbnb?

Content Upload Airbnb

You can create an ad and upload photos, descriptions and set prices directly from the portal extranet. However, if you manage your ads from the channel manager thanks to the connection via API, you can save time and avoid unpleasant overbookings. In fact, thanks to the channel manager you will not have to worry about manually updating availability and prices. The channel manager will do everything automatically!

In addition, thanks to the connections of the system, you can increase the visibility of your property. If you used to sell only through Booking.com, now you can connect as many portals as you want. Each portal is in fact managed automatically without the risk of overbooking.

Finally, with the two-way XML connection, you can also send restrictions such as the minimum and maximum stay and any discounts to the portal. For example, you can set up in the channel manager and send discounts for weekly and monthly stays via the certified API.

To summarize, thanks to a 2-way connection between the channel manager and Airbnb you can send and update:

  • prices;
  • availability;
  • photos and descriptions;
  • restrictions for minimum and maximum stay;
  • closures;
  • weekly and monthly discounts;
  • promotions.
